Growing Great Grub Fall/Winter
Come out to our farm and we will walk you through how to grow a great garden for the fall that will get you through most of the winter! Best time to grow a lot of your veggies like Broccoli, cauliflower, Brussel sprouts, cabbage, kale, collards, swiss chard and that's only naming a few in the fall/winter months. Why you ask?? no bugs, the cooler weather makes for sweeter tasting veggies and you save a lot of money at the store. That's the time of year that fresh veggie prices go up due to the distance it gets shipped or the energy to grow in a green house! This one day class I will show you:
-How to get your soil ready and what cover crops to plant to improve your soil for next spring
-Companion planting to help with bugs, living mulch, feed other plants and what you use to support plants.
-Planting methods to reduce weeding and to get the most out of your garden space and plant fast and easy so you can spend more time enjoying your garden!
-Insects I will help you identify the good bugs and control the bad ones organically.
-Garden maintenance from mulching, watering, thinning and weeding.
We will do this in a 5 hour workshop that will include seeds to start your fall garden (over a dozen different kinds) handouts on the different subjects so you have references to go back too. We will also have refreshments and a restroom facility for your use.
You will also get some of our favorite heirloom fall seeds.
