Individual Artists of Oklahoma - IAO Gallery
706 W Sheridan Ave, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73102
IAO will present a discussion with photographer Steve Wilson regarding the history of the wet-plate collidial technique used in his newest show, «Our Saurian Tales.» The presentation will be followed by a live demonstration. The event is free and open to the public.
Introduced in 1851 by Frederick Scott Archer, wet-plate collodian became the preeminent photography technique during the Civil War. Embraced by only a handful of current photographers, the process uses glass and special chemicals to create an aged look in modern photography. Wilson has been practicing the wet-plate collodian technical process for over ten years and has incorporated it into many of his pieces.
Steven Wilson’s newest exhibit, “Our Saurian Tales," explores people's projections of bias and uncertainly based on perception and features a mix of conventional digital imagery as well as pieces created utilizing the wet-plate collodion process.
