Join us for a special two part Meditation & Journaling workshop led by local writer and yoga instructor, Adi McCasland, on February 13th and 20th from 7:30 to 8:30pm. The only experience needed is the experience you already have at being human, so don’t worry if you’ve never meditated for a breath or written more than a twenty year old English Lit paper. This workshop will make the practice of meditation and journaling an approachable one.
Message from Adi:
«If you look at the word 'meditation' and think „I'd rather have spiders lay eggs in my ear,“ don't worry. There was a time that I thought that, too. The idea of sitting still and cleaning my mind seemed impossible, at best, but don't fear the brain jumble! You're not supposed to have zero thoughts. The idea is to learn to create space for all of them and learn what to do with them as they pass through. These thoughts write your story, and we all have a story to tell — even when we can’t find the words. This is where you learn to connect your breath to your voice so that your story can be shared Maybe you want to share it with everyone. Maybe you want to share it with no one. It doesn't really matter, because the purpose is to simply give yourself the option.
This workshop is good for teenagers, as well as adults. Materials are provided, but if you have a special journal you prefer to use, feel free to bring it! Non-optional: an open mind and a sense of humor. Rest assured that you will NOT be asked to share anything you write, so don't let that scare you away. Word on the mat says that she brings chocolate to these things… just in case you need a little extra encouragement.
The cost is $25 for one session or $40 for both sessions ($12 for one session and $20 for both if you are a student).
